Meeting at the Italian Cultural Center.
As I already told you, the main goal of our trip was the desire of the US government to show us how peaceful Americans are, and we, in turn, in gratitude to such grace, should have carried this idea to the masses.
One day we were invited to a meeting at the Italian Cultural Center, the meeting was arranged for us with employees of Community Connections large organization, thanks to which we were lucky to visit the United States. A lot of people gathered at the meeting and it was noteworthy that they were of different nationalities, there were Africans and Chinese, oriental girls in hijabs, and a full international. Maybe only we Ukrainians – 10 people were all of the same nationality, but most likely there was diversity in our group. After the speeches and presentations were made, we were invited to a light buffet, and I should notice that we were fed almost everywhere.
I could have forgotten the whole story, but it was here that there was one conversation that seemed to me to very truthfully describe the essence of the policy of the American government and perhaps even the general mood of the Americans.
With me at the table was a respectable and mature man. We met and talked. And I heard the following words from him: he told me:
“Look around. Do you see how different people are around us? They came from different countries of the world and the world is very big, it is necessary that our sons fight, in order to learn geography.

Как я уже Вам говорила – основной целью нашей поездки было желание правительства США показать нам, насколько миролюбивы американцы и мы в свою очередь в благодарность такой милости должны были нести эту мысль в массы.
В один из дней мы были приглашены на встречу в Итальянский культурный центр, в котором была устроена для нас встреча с сотрудниками большой организации, благодаря которой нам повезло побывать в США. На встрече собралось очень много людей и примечательно было то, что они были самых разных национальностей, были африканцы и китайцы, восточные девушки в хиджабах, полный интернационал. Может быть только мы- 10 человек были все одной национальности, но скорее всего и в нашей группе было разнообразие.
После высказанных речей и представлений нас пригласили на легкий фуршет, и стоит заметить, что нас подкармливали практически везде.
Всю эту историю я могла бы и позабыть, но именно тут произошел один разговор, который как мне показалось очень правдиво описал сущность политики американского правительства и пожалуй даже общего настроя американцев.
Со мной за столиком оказался солидный и зрелый мужчина. Мы познакомились и разговорились. И я услышала от него следующее- он сказал мне:
“Посмотри вокруг.
Видишь насколько разные люди нас окружают. Они приехали из самых разных стран мира и мир очень большой- нужно, что бы наши сыновья воевали, для того чтобы выучить географию.”
