Today I will tell you about the most beautiful representative of the Cape Flower Kingdom about a plant called protea. These are amazingly beautiful plants.
The flora of the southern tip of the African continent is very different from ordinary vegetation, and it seemed to me from the moment of the first acquaintance and further recognition, the idea came to my mind that these plants are the progenitors of the entire flora on earth. I somehow met here a bush of our ordinary wormwood 2 meters high.
But back to the proteas.
Proteaceae / ˌproʊtiˈeɪsiː / is a family of flowering plants predominantly found in the Southern Hemisphere. The family includes 83 genera and about 1,660 known species. Together with Platanaceae and Nelumbonaceae, they form the order Proteales.
Royal protea has several color forms and gardeners have identified 81 garden species. In some varieties, the pink color of the flower and the red border of the leaves are replaced by a creamy yellow. This unusual flower has a long vase life in floral arrangements and makes a great dried flower.
Protea cynaroides is adapted to survive forest fires thanks to its thick underground stem, which contains many dormant buds; they will give new growth after a fire

Сегодня я расскажу вам о самом прекрасном представителе Капского королевства цветов о о растении под названием протея. Это удивительно красивые растения.
Растительный мир южной оконечности африканского континента очень отличается от обычной растительности и как мне показалось с момента первого знакомства и дальнейшего узнавания пришла в голову мысль о том, что эти растения являются прародителями всего растительного мира на земле. Мне как то встретился здесь куст нашей обыкновенной полыни в метра 2 высотой.
Но вернемся к протеям.
Proteaceae / ˌproʊtiˈeɪsiː / – это семейство цветковых растений, преимущественно распространенных в Южном полушарии. Семейство включает 83 рода и около 1660 известных видов. Вместе с Platanaceae и Nelumbonaceae они составляют отряд Proteales.
