Melbourne Zoo
Once in Melbourne, I realized that the animals in Australia are very different from the animals of other continents. If I previously knew that Kangaroos are marsupials, then here I realized that not only kangaroos are marsupials, but many others. And of course, I could not miss the opportunity not to visit the Zoo.
I will tell you honestly that due to the high cost of tickets to the Melbourne Aquarium, I did not go there. And now, having checked the cost of tickets via the Internet, I realized that I made a mistake – a ticket to the Aquarium costs from $ 26, and to the Zoo 42. And then it seemed to me, or I saw on the poster, that a ticket to the Aquarium cost more than $ 100!
So Zoo!
The Royal Zoo, known as the Melbourne Zoo, contains over 320 animal species from Australia and around the world.
The Royal Melbourne Zoo was opened on October 6, 1862, on the territory of Royal Park and occupies 55 acres (22 ha) of the territory allocated by the city of Melbourne.
The zoo was originally adapted for acclimatization of pets after a long trip to Australia. This was until Alexandre Albert Cochrane Le Souef became director of the park in 1870, after which exotic animals were specially acquired for public display, and gardens were laid out and picnic areas were allocated.
Visitors are given the opportunity to see the historic cages that were used for clients who could spend the night in tents at the zoo and enjoy the sounds of the nighttime bush. These evenings allow you to see some of the zoo’s nocturnal animals during evening tours.
The zoo is located among flower gardens. Many of the animals are now kept in bioclimatic zones: The African rainforests feed on gorillas, mandrills, pygmy hippos and parrots; Asian Rainforest with tigers and otters created; and for Australian animals koalas, kangaroos, emus, echidnas, wombats, the conditions of the Australian mainland are created. A popular place for the public is the Butterfly House and the huge Elephant Enclosure. The Melbourne Zoo recently received three new Asian elephants from Thailand despite much controversy over their safety and welfare.

Потрапивши в Мельбурн, я зрозуміла, що в Австралії тварини дуже відрізняються від тварин інших континентів. А зараз перевіривши вартість квитків через інтернет, я зрозуміла, що зробила помилку-білет до Акваріуму коштує від 26 доларів, а до Зоопарк 42. А мені тоді здалося, чи я бачила на афіші, що квиток до Акваріуму коштував понад 100 доларів!
