Good memories from Mumbay, Shiva the God, Lingam and Yoni.
In the last post, I wrote about the sharp but not-so-pleasant memories of Mumbai. Today I will talk about another memory that was nice to remember. I’ve already talked about our visit to Babulnath Temple. It was bright and fascinating. We were present in worship. And I became a part of the action. So, God Shiva.
Shiva, a Sanskrit: Shiva, which means “Auspicious One”, also known as Mahadeva (“Great God”), is one of the three main deities of Hinduism. Shiva and Vishnu and Brahma is the one who is not, or found or born or found dead. He is one of five basic forms of God.
At the highest level, Shiva is considered to be limitless, transtsendentental, immutable and formless. Shiva also has a lot of benevolent and terrifying forms. Key attributes of Shiva are the third eye on his forehead, the serpent Vasuki around his neck, decorating crescent holy river Ganga flowing from his matted hair, his Trishul weapon and Damara as his musical instrument. Shiva is usually worshipped by performing the lingam ceremony. The cult of Shiva belongs to the pan-Hindu tradition, practised widely throughout India, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
Lingam- what is it?
Lingam (lingam as Ling Ling, Shiva Lingam Shiv ling) means a sign, symbol or phallus. That he is an abstract representation of the Hindu deity. In traditional Indian society, rather linga is regarded as a symbol of the energy and the capacity of Lord Shiva.
Lingam is often depicted with the yoni (Sanskrit word, that literally means “origin” or “queen”), the symbol of the goddess Shakti, the female deity. Combining the lingam and yoni is “two indivisible unity of male and female, active and passive space-time from which life originates.

Лінгам – що це?

І на церемонії, про яку я говорила, жрець і в присутності людей поливав лінгам молоком, так як він має форму фалоса, молоко, що стікає з нього, було дуже схоже на сперму, що дає нове життя. У цій літургії було дуже багато еротики. Мені це сподобалось.
