The news about the death of Viktor Khamatov appeared on FB, and I noticed that few people spoke about what Viktor had done for Ukrainian art. I knew Victor and I will tell you about my memories of him.
Odessa. The Maritime Art Gallery, in the form in which it became after moving to the Seaport, was a wonderful platform, certainly the best in Ukraine. This is probably why we were invited to become part of the Association of Ukrainian Galleries, which was created by Viktor Khamatov.
A rare soul, a devoted family man, a pioneer and a high professional in his work.
Viktor Khamatov is the founder of the first non-state art institution in Ukraine – the Soviart Center for Contemporary Art. Since 1987, the CCA has been the first among the organizers of large-scale international art exhibitions in our country.
From 1995 to the present day, Viktor Khamatov was the founder and President of the Association of Art Galleries of Ukraine, the founder of the first private museum of contemporary art, the publishing house of the periodical magazine “Gallery”, Art Rating, and many other publications in the field of contemporary art in Ukraine. For more than 35 years, Viktor Khamatov has been conducting major Ukrainian and international art projects with European art institutions, foundations, and embassies.
It was very interesting and entertaining for me to communicate with Viktor and create joint art projects in collaboration with the Association of Galleries of Ukraine.
I am also likely to this day the secretary of the Association and Viktor told me that I should be proud of this title, it almost sounds like the secretary of the Politburo …
I liked coming to the capital to attend meetings of the association. Early in the morning I was in Kiev, I found a place where to have breakfast, then I went at the appointed time to Andreevsky Descent to the Soviart Gallery, talked with other gallery owners, and then met with Kiev artists and we dined with them at my favorite restaurant – “Za Dvoma Zayzamy”. And late in the evening I left for Odessa on the Chernomorets train.
Thanks to Victor, I met Nelya Supova and Olga Petrova, Alexei Vladimirov, whose exhibitions were presented at different times in the Maritime Art Gallery and numerous guests and visitors of the Maritime Art Gallery could get acquainted with their work.
Thanks to Viktor Khamatov, the Maritime Art Gallery in Odessa hosted a whole series of exhibitions of galleries of Ukraine, as well as exhibitions of the winners of the art rating of Ukraine, thanks to which Odesans and guests of our city and country got acquainted with the work of the unsurpassed Sergey Gay, Edik Belsky, Sergey Savchenko and many other Ukrainian artists.
All this was very, very important in the formation of Ukrainian art, and in many respects it took place precisely thanks to Viktor Khamatov.
Victor has always been a constant guest on all our major projects.
I believe that the name of Viktor Khamatov will not be forgotten.
And today, on the eve of a big holiday, I congratulate you all on the upcoming Bright Great Day and let’s believe in our Victory! Glory to Ukraine and glory to our heroes!
Пам’яті Віктора Хаматова. Квітень 2023
На ФБ з’явилася звістка про смерть Віктора Хаматова, і я помітила те, що мало хто розповів про те, що Віктор зробив для Українського мистецтва. Я була знайома з Віктором і розповім про свої спогади про нього.
Одеса. Морська Арт Галерея, у тому вигляді в якому вона стала після переселення на Морвокзал, була чудовим майданчиком, безумовно кращим в Україні. Ймовірно, тому ми були запрошені стати частиною Асоціації Галерей України, яку створив Віктор Хаматов.
“Рідкісної душі людина, відданий сім’янин, першопрохідник і високий професіонал у своїй діяльності.
Віктор Хаматов – засновник першої недержавної мистецької інституції в Україні – Центру сучасного мистецтва Soviart. З 1987 року ЦСМ була першою серед організаторів масштабних міжнародних художніх виставок у нашій країні.
З 1995 року і до сьогодні Віктор Хаматов був засновником та Президентом Асоціації арт галерей України, засновником першого приватного музею сучасного мистецтва, видавництва періодичного журналу «Галерея», Арт рейтинг та багатьох інших видань у сфері сучасного мистецтва України. Понад 35 років Віктор Хаматов проводив великі Українські та міжнародні мистецькі проекти з європейськими арт-інституціями, фондами, посольствами”.
Мені було дуже цікаво та цікаво спілкування з Віктором та створення спільних мистецьких проектів у співдружності з Асоціацією галерей України.
Я так само ймовірно до цього дня є секретарем Асоціації і Віктор мені говорив про те, що я маю пишатися цим званням, воно звучить майже так як секретар політбюро…
Мені подобалося приїжджати до столиці на засідання асоціації. Рано-вранці я була в Києві, знаходила місце де поснідати, потім йшла у призначений час на Андріївський узвіз до галереї Совіарт, спілкувалася з іншими галеристами, а потім зустрічалася з київськими художниками і ми з ними вечеряли в моєму улюбленому ресторанчику – За Дома Зайцами. І пізно ввечері виїжджала до Одеси поїздом Чорноморець.
Завдяки Віктору я познайомилася з Нелею Суповою та Ольгою Петровою, Олексієм Володимировим чиї виставки були в різний час представлені в Морській Арт Галереї та з їхньою творчістю змогли познайомитись численні гості та відвідувачі Морської Арт Галереї.
Завдяки Віктору Хаматову в Морській Арт Галереї в Одесі відбулася ціла серія виставок галерей України, а також виставки лауреатів арт рейтингу України, завдяки яким одесити та гості нашого міста та країни познайомилися з творчістю неперевершених Сергія Гая, Едіка Бєльського, Сергія Савченка та багатьох інших. художників.
Все це було дуже, дуже важливим у становленні українського мистецтва, і багато в чому це сталося саме завдяки Віктору Хаматову.
Віктор завжди був незмінним гостем на всіх наших великих проектах.
Я вірю в те, що ім’я Віктора Хаматова не буде забуте.
А сьогодні напередодні великого свята я вітаю вас усіх зі Світлим Великим Днем і давайте вірити в нашу Перемогу! Слава Україні та слава нашим героям!
