October 2019. Exhibition Mother Africa” or “Two Big Differences”

The exhibition “Mama Africa” in the Odesa West and Eastern Museum was organized by our famous Larisa Poplavskaya. It was after this exhibition that I decided to refuse any exhibitions. The decision has been brewing for a long time. And at this exhibition it overwhelmed me. I decided to share with you – in my group – I have the right!
It is unprofessional to organize exhibitions for random people. And why is everyone so eager to use the artist?
For many years in a row, Larisa attracted me and other artists to similar events. The only goal, and a very clear one, is to support business. This is not new and understandable. Yes, of course, my works, one might say, were created to advertise Africa. My exhibition project “Ah Africa” traveled to many cities in Ukraine and I was supported by the South African Embassy in Ukraine for 5 years.
Larisa decided that I might be interested. And for five long years, after this exhibition, I lost interest in exhibition activities.
I suggested that she make custom prints of my work and display them anywhere. But this did not happen, every time she decided to hold an event, she turned to me. I could still understand when the exhibition was my personal one – that’s normal. But when people from the street gathered at the exhibition, it honestly traumatized me. Yes, of course, at the presentation, out of habit, I made speeches and thanked the organizers, but in fact it was very difficult for me, also due to the fact that everyone who came to honor Poplavskaya did not even come to look at the exhibition, but ate the buffet snacks with great pleasure . Quarrel. Many years have passed, but this has stuck in my soul. I can not forget. Maybe I’m too strict?!
What’s the difference? A few years ago I received an invitation to take part in an exhibition of South African artists in London, and for the participation of one of my works I was already paid 2000 pounds sterling. The exhibition has been running for 3 years. This is the difference – the attitude towards the artists’ paintings!

Жовтень 2019. Виставка «Мама Африка» або «Дві Великі Різниці»
Виставку Мама Африка у музеї влаштовувала наша відома Лариса Поплавська. Саме після цієї виставки я прийняла рішення відмовитися від якихось виставок. Рішення зріло давно. А на цій виставці вона мене переповнила. Вирішила поділитися з вами- у своїй групі-маю право!
Непрофесійно займатися влаштуванням виставок людям випадковим. І чому всі так хочуть використати митця?
Багато років поспіль Лариса приваблювала мене та інших художників на такі акції. Єдина мета, і дуже зрозуміла підтримка бізнесу. Це не нове і зрозуміло. Так, звичайно, мої роботи, можна сказати, створені для реклами Африки. Мій виставковий проект «Ах Африка» об’їхав багато міст України та мене протягом 5 років підтримувало Посольство ПАР в Україні.
Лариса вирішила, що мені може бути цікаво. А я – на довгі п’ять років, після цієї виставки втратила інтерес до виставкової діяльності.
Я пропонувала їй зробити на замовлення принти моїх робіт і виставляти їх будь-де. Але цього не сталося, щоразу, коли вона вирішувала провести захід, вона зверталася до мене. Я ще могла зрозуміти, коли виставка була моєю персональною – це нормально. Але коли в експозицію збиралися люди з вулиці, то це мене чесно сказати травмувало. Так звичайно, на презентації, я за звичкою говорила промови і дякувала організаторам, але насправді мені це було дуже важко, ще через те, що всі, хто прийшов на вшанування Поплавської, навіть не зайшли подивитися на експозицію, а з величезним задоволенням поїдали фуршетні закуски. . Сварки. Пройшло багато років- але це засіло в мене в душі. Не можу забути. Може я занадто строга?!
А в чому ж різниця? Кілька років тому я отримала запрошення взяти участь у виставці південноафриканських художників у Лондоні, і за одну мою роботу вже мені заплатили 2000 фунтів Стерлінгів. Виставка триває 3 рік. У цьому й різниця – ставлення до картин художників!
