Walking along the streets of the city of Cyprus, you can commemorate the great number of guts of different breeds. The history of the mass appearance on the islands of these animals dates back to the fourth century BC. In these years, speaking to the modern day, a natural catastrophe blew up the country: after the dry season, a period of 17 years, in Cyprus faceless jet snakes sprang up. Rising in front of the careless reptiles of the Cypriots, they angrily threw their booths.

Having ruled on the islands, the creatures ran into their bosses and spared the misfortune of the inhabitants of the city. According to the legend, the guts settled in the monastery of St. Nicholas, who was punished to watch the “guards”. As a sign of gratitude, the inhabitants of Cyprus until that day were put up to their guts, and the holy monastery placed 10 km from Limassol, took away the name of a friend – “Cat Monastery”.

Влаштувавшись на острові тварини на відмінно впоралися зі своїм завданням і позбавили місцеве населення повзучої напасті. За легендою, кішки спочатку оселилися в монастирі Святого Миколая, ченцям якого наказали доглядати «рятувальників». На знак подяки жителі Кіпру до цього дня з повагою ставляться до кішок, а свята обитель, розташована за 10 км від Лімассола, отримала другу назву — «Котячий монастир».
