I decided to change the Saturday column for a while and instead of publishing memories about our galleries, I will tell you about Cyprus, a wonderful island that gave my family and I shelter during temporary immigration from Ukraine. I never dreamed of visiting here – it was not part of my plans. But, as they say-a dream-be very careful. I talked a lot about the fact that I don’t like to be just a tourist, that in order to learn better about the place where you end up, you need to live there. Otherwise, it’s like a movie in an unfamiliar foreign language – you see the picture, but you don’t understand anything that’s happening there.
And also, for some reason I dreamed about Italy, but not about cities, but about villages where people grow grapes and make wine. I was very interested in the life of an ordinary village – and now, as you understand, my dreams have come true almost to the fullest extent, the only correction is not Italy, but Cyprus!

Я вирішила на якийсь час змінити суботню рубрику і замість того, щоб публікувати спогади про наші галереї розповісти вам про Кіпр, чудовий остров, який надав моїй родині і мені притулок під час тимчасової імміграції з України. Я ніколи не мріяла побувати тут-це не входило до моїх планів. Але, як кажуть-мрія-будь дуже обережний. Я багато говорила про те, що не люблю бути просто туристом, що для того, щоб краще дізнатися про місце, куди ти потрапляєш, там потрібно пожити. Інакше це схоже на фільм незнайомою іноземною мовою-ти бачиш картинку, але не розумієш нічого з того, що там відбувається.
І ще, я чомусь мріяла про Італію, але не про міста, а про села, де люди вирощують виноград і роблять вино. Мені був дуже цікавий побут звичайного села-і ось, як ви розумієте, мої мрії здійснилися практично повною мірою, єдина поправка це не Італія, а Кіпр!

- Державний прапор
Кіпр – країна, на прапорі якої зображена її територія. Прапор став символом держави після здобуття незалежності від Британської корони у 60-му році минулого століття. Згідно з Конституцією Кіпру та його внутрішньополітичними правилами, прапор мав стати уособленням нейтральності. На полотнищі неприпустимі: синій та червоний кольори, зображення хреста та півмісяця, як символів Греції та Туреччини відповідно.
Малюнок острова мідно-пісочного відтінку нагадує про великі поклади мідної руди в його надрах. За однією з історичних версій, назва Кіпр могла походить від латинського слова cuprum (мідь). Дві зелені гілки оливкового дерева розміщені на білому тлі як традиційний символ світу. Остання редакція прапора республіки Кіпр датована 2006 роком.
