I already told you that I lost photos of several years and now I am restoring the events from those that have been saved on FB and other social networks.
So that’s how I discovered a photo of the work of a very famous South African artist Maria Sinbade. I don’t remember where they were made. I first saw her work at the National Gallery and am posting a link to the exhibition in which they were presented. And now I have picked up information about the artist and will be happy to share it with you.

Mary Sibande (born 11 April 1982) is a South African artist based in Johannesburg. Her art consists of sculptures, paintings, photography, and design. Sibande uses these mediums and techniques to help depict the human form and explore the construction of identity in a postcolonial South African context.
Mary Sibande was born in Barberton, South Africa.
In 2004 she received a Diploma in Fine Arts from Witwatersrand Technikon, and in 2007 obtained a B-Tech degree from the University of Johannesburg.
Sibande’s career as an artist came under the spotlight with the opening of Long Live the Dead Queen at Gallery MOMO in Johannesburg, South Africa (2009), where she introduced Sophie, a life-size sculpted avatar, modelled in the artist’s own image.
Adorned in elaborate Victorian dress, Sibande makes reference to the uniform typically worn by domestic workers in South Africa.
Hers is a celebration of the hard work, strength, love, hope, and imagination that carried so many black South African women – her mother, grandmother, and great grandmother included – through apartheid South Africa, a testament to the power of the imagination as a way through which one is able to master their own narrative, despite the odds.

Я вперше побачила її роботи в Національній галереї та публікую посилання про виставку, на якій вони були представлені. Мері Сібанде (народилася 11 квітня 1982) — південноафриканська художниця, яка живе в Йоганнесбурзі. Її мистецтво складається зі скульптури, живопису, фотографії та дизайну. Сібанде використовує ці засоби та техніки, щоб допомогти змалювати людську форму та дослідити побудову ідентичності в постколоніальному південноафриканському контексті.
